When I am a rich man

About a month or two back, I signed up for Google ads, not so much because I thought it would make me rich, but because I thought, hey, why not?
So far, it's working like a charm, the not making me rich part. To date, I've pulled in a whopping 45 cents in profit. I can now afford to buy a stamp, with enough change left over to, well, to save for a second stamp.
Even though I'm not making the big bucks yet, Google ads does give me one more website to obsessively click and check, and it does provide stats on page impressions and whatnot, even though i'm sure I generate about 90 percent of the impressions clicking on my own site. I'm sure there are other blog-type programs that keep track of visitors and such much better than Google ads, but hell, it took me over a year before I mastered the art of linking to other blogs from my blog. Generally, I can handle the minimal amount of technology I need to get by.
Otherwise, I am tring to hatch some kind of socialistic web based economy where everyone gets all the money they need by doing nothing more than clicking on each other's Google ads all day. If anyone has a more concrete plan, I'm happy to hear it out.

i was always a bit (well, more than a bit... i'd say very) skeptical about those "make money on your blog" schemes. something tells me, that in order for me to make a penny, the site i'm linking to has to be making a benny (a hundred dollars, ya'll!)... i had to make it rhyme!

well, EC, thanks for dropping by plezWorld earlier today. i appreciate it. i also notice that you've added me to your blogroll, which means that i must reciprocate! take care.

Be careful if you click your own ads. They've started monitoring it so doing it daily isn't that good an idea anymore. Better start doing it every-other day ;-)

But, GoogleAds does work. I've already gotten a check (back in December). I'm going to use it for Christmas shopping (hopefully every year, now.)

I'm approaching the $100 threshold, which is when they actually cut you a check. It has taken approximately two years. I worked it out once. I forget the exact figures, but I think it turned out I was writing for about 17 cents an hour, which is better than writing for nothing - kind of.

You can also go to your public library and click the hell out of your ads. You'll be raking in a buck before you know it.

Dave - that's a good idea. I would usually, at my old job, go on the two computers in the office and click the links. Then, I would come home and do the same.

Since I'm returning to college (again), using the campus library won't be a bad idea. I just hope all the IP's are different (which I'm assuming they would be.)
